INSTRUMENTS: Students do NOT need to bring instruments to school during the first week of the school year. We have many important activities to take care of during the first week of each school year, such as going over the class syllabus, discussing classroom policies and procedures, assigning storage spaces, establishing rehearsal etiquette norms, and more. Students will be notified by me when it will be their class’s turn to start bringing their instrument to school on a daily basis.
CLASS PLACEMENTS: If you/your student were placed in the wrong instrumental music class, these issues will get sorted out during the first week or two of the school year. If you find yourself/your student in this situation, please have patience with me and your/your student’s counselor as they work through hundreds of schedule change requests during the first weeks of the school year.
PARENT INFO MEETINGS: The annual parent info meeting will be taking place soon! This year, there will be two meetings; one for parents of Beginning Band/Orchestra students, and one for parents of Intermediate/Advanced Band/Orchestra students. Both meetings will take place on Thursday, August 20th in the MMS Performing Arts Center. The meeting for Beginning Band/Orchestra parents will be from 6:00 – 7:00 PM, and the meeting for Intermediate/Advanced Band/Orchestra parents will be from 7:00 – 8:00 PM. Please be advised of the following:
- I present these info meetings because Back To School Night does not provide enough time to adequately cover all of the necessary info for instrumental music classes
- As a result of having presented these info meetings, I will NOT be present at either of MMS’s Back To School Nights
- Video and materials from the meetings will be made available here on the MMSIM website for families that are unable to attend their meeting, as well as for future reference
